Biopsy
A biopsy is simply the removal of a tissue sample to determine if it is diseased. Lasers are very precise and therefore gives the pathologist the best specimen to evaluate.
Gingivoplasty
This procedure is done to reshape the gums for various reasons. If the gums are enlarged and overgrown, they create a breeding ground for plaque and bacteria. Sometimes there is too much gum tissue covering the teeth causing them to appear short. Certain medications can also cause gum enlargement. Most of these cases can be treated using a carbon dioxide laser. Using a laser will help the patient heal faster and experience less post operative pain.
Treatment of Apthous Ulcers
Apthous ulcers, commonly referred to as canker sores, can be both annoying and painful. They can persist for days to weeks. Lasers are effective in relieving pain and reducing the healing time during the treatment of aphthous ulcers.
Surgery
Lasers are used as an alternative to traditional scalpels in many surgical procedures. It is patient friendly, reducing post-operative pain and helps speed up recovery time. Lasers also help control bleeding.
